SPECIAL FIFTIETH COMMEMORATION IN MEMORY OF THE HEROIC CHICANO/A REVOLUTIONARY MARTYRS—THE BOULDER SIX, WHO GAVE UP THEIR LIVES FOR THE OPPRESSED, MAY 27, 29, 1974

The Boulder Six, Neva Romero, Reyes Martinez, Una Jaakola, Florencio Granado, Francisco Dougherty and Heriberto Teran, were true Chicano freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives, in the struggle of the Chicano people, against racism, poverty, hunger, injustices, police brutality, inferior education systems for children, in opposition to the policies of U.S. Yankee colonialism and imperialism , and the brutal ethnic cleansing, extermination and theft of Mexicano Chicano lands in the U.S. Southwest, through two colonial wars, lynchings, massacres, dispossessions, and declared “illegal aliens ” in their own indigenous homeland; then used our Chicano youth as “ cannon fodder “ to fight an imperialist war in Southeast Asia thrown into the frontlines to be massacred by the Viet Cong,  suffering the highest of casualties, in a war manufactured by French and U.S. imperialists to justify invading Vietnam and commit monstrous war crimes,  crimes against humanity.  See RODOLFO ACUNA.  OCCUPIED AMERICA:  A HISTORY OF THE CHICANOS, (NY Pearson 2004) THE STORY OF CHICANOS, AND THE CHICANO REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT HAS NOT BEEN FULLY TOLD.  IN MEMORY OF THE BOULDER SIX, WE CONTINUE TO HONOR THEIR SACRIFICES, AND VOW TO CONTINUE TO OUR FIGHT UNTIL OUR HOMELAND IS FREE OF YANKEE COLONIZER INVADERS….

NEVA, UNA, REYES, FLORENCIO, FRANCISCO, and HERIBERTO were killed in suspicious separate car bombings in Boulder, Colorado, on May 27, and 29, 1974. at the height of the rise of political murders, and brutality against Chicanos by police. not only in Colorado, but across the entire U.S. Southwest, as documented in the 1970 U.S. COMMISSION ON CIVIL RIGHTS REPORT titled:  MEXICAN AMERICANS AND THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN THE SOUTHWEST. 1970 Library of Congress.  In Texas, the enforcers of colonial rule and occupation were the criminal thugs, the TEXAS RANGERS police army militia created for the purpose of exterminating Mexicans and other indigenous nations then residing in their native homelands. “Law” such as the infamous LAW WEST OF THE PECOS.  saloon converted into a courtroom. To bring in chained Mexicans, to be declared “personas non grata.”  and be deported north of the U.S./Mexico border set at the Rio Grande River.  THE BOULDER SIX. like Chicano Youth during these times, were all inspired by the heroic victories of the Cuban people and the Viet Cong guerillas to shake off the shackles of colonialism and imperialism in defeat thereof.  As ERNESTO “CHE” GUEVARA AND TAMARA “TANIA” BUNKE taught us as they fought for freedom against imperialism, and giving their lives so that the Bolivian people could be free, murdered by the CIA, to stop the guerilla movement in Latin America, inspiring youth of all colors to wake up and fight back no matter the overwhelming odds, where once the “revolutionary giant wakes up” the power of the people will defeat U.S. imperialism, domestically and around the world, with, as Che put it “ one, two, three, or many Viet Nams.”

The CHICANO REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT against the U.S. imperialism as the murder of Che, Tania, Fred Hampton, Mark Clark, Jonathan Jackson, George Jackson, and many other revolutionaries, was the special target of the CIA, and its clandestine operations led by the FBI, the Pentagon, and other special operations such as COINTELPRO.  CANDOR.  MKULTRA.  PHOENIX.  and other counterinsurgency secret programs.   targeting the left, the anti-war movement, sanctuary, civil rights, labor and other movements the U.S. government and its ruling class saw as threats to their class rule.  The government was out to destroy and “neutralize” said groups it perceived as domestic threats and to prevent the “rise of a messiah that could unite and electrify” these movements.  in the words of COINTELPRO mission statements.  See HAMPTON  V.  HANRAHAN.  600   F   2d.  600  ( 3rd Cir.  1978 ) (noting COINTELPRO and the murder of FRED HAMPTON.  MARK CLARK at Black Panther Party Headquarters in Chicago); See also GONZALES  V.  LEONARD.  497  F.  Supp.  1058  ( Conn.  1980) (Police manufactured “kill a cop a day” lies to prevent the Chicano movement and the American Indian Movement to join forces in the fight for justice).

The BOULDER SIX martyrs represented the highest of ideals.  virtues.  qualities.  commitment.  revolutionary love of humanity and the poor.  the oppressed.  as an advanced revolutionary consciousness of what it takes to free our minds.  our souls and bodies from the mental shackles of colonization.  internalized oppression.  and attain the highest ideals of  revolutionary consciousness for humankind to embrace and free itself from such a racist.  evil.  brutal.  and criminal enemy of the human species  —   U.S. COLONIALISM.  PREDATORY RACIAL CAPITALISM.  IMPERIALISM AND FASCISM.  as one’s sacred duty to stand up and fight back in defense of our humanity.  our dignity and our inalienable rights to be free of slave masters.  and a political economic system that is pure robbery of working class labor power.  to make others rich and amass wealth while others go hungry.  and to have to sleep in the streets.  and fill AmeriKKKa’s jails and prisons disproportionately represented by people of color in the genocidal system of its courts.  and prison slavery systems legalized by the 13th Amendment replacing chattel slavery in 1865.  Take a close look behind bars.  and you will see the truths of what he [who speaks] truth to power.  Plus.  the majority in supermax control units. totalling 100,000 prisoners in some form of solitary confinement.  are bore out by the own government’s statistics.  See Apocado v. Raemsch.  139  S.  Ct.  5  ( Oct.  9.  2018 ) (JUSTICE SONYA SOTOMAYOR noting these statistics )

The BOULDER SIX.  THE BROWN BERETS.  the CRUSADE FOR JUSTICE.  and other class and race consciousness civil rights and liberation movements always included  “prisoners” “mutual-aid support and solidarity” as an essential part of the overall social liberation movements to abolish prisons.  for the return of stolen lands. to unite the Black.  Chicano.  Indigenous people “as one.”  in our united fights against the multitude of social and racial injustices of displaced people U.S. society.  is today in a crisis.  and political leaders have intensified their “class war” against all working people and escalated their repression by criminalizing free speech.  liberation movements.  us studying the ugly history of our genocide and oppression,   AS THE ANTI-CRITICAL RACE THEORY MOVEMENT HAS ALSO TAKEN ROOT BEHIND PRISON WALLS.  FOR THE OPPRESSOR KNOWS THAT UNDERSTANDING TRUE HISTORY.  AGAINST THE MYTHS AND LIES THEY TEACH US.  WILL STIR OUR CONSCIENCE AND MOVE US ALL TOWARD TRUE FREEDOM.  JUSTICE.  EQUALITY AND A WORLD WHERE WE ARE NOT BRANDED.  WITH BADGES OF SLAVERY DUE TO OUR SKIN COLOR.  OUR POVERTY.  OUR DIFFERENCES IN DIVERSE CULTURES AS WE SEEK TO DISCOVER OUR OWN HUMANITY AND PLACE IN THIS WORLD as free men and women without kings.  or tyrant rulers.

ON THIS MAY  27  AND  29, 2024  WE PAY SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THE BOULDER SIX FREEDOM FIGHTERS.  NEVA, REYES, FLORENCIO, FRANCISCO,  UNA, HERIBERTO.  Who will forever remain in our hearts as they paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we could be free.  in a new world free of racism,  neocolonialism,  predatory racial plantation capitalism, imperialism, and fascism.  WE CALL ON THE U.S. GOVERNMENT TO RELEASE ALL GOVERNMENT FILES ON THE BOULDER SIX,  AND NOT REDACT ITS RECORDS,  AS IT DID IN THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION CASE SEEKING SUCH DOCUMENTS –  TITLED  MARTINEZ  V.  DOJ.  324  FRD 33  (DCC  Feb. 27,  2018).
